Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Since 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses were able to save $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. All Pella® products meet or exceed ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. How will this affect you? Not only might you see a decline with your heating and cooling bill, you can help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are all specifically designed and custom-made for your home, meaning no two projects are the same. Our wide variety of products make it nearly impossible to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs, wants and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it mutually beneficially to send out a Pella sales representative who can give you a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the quoting procedure, your Pella® sales representative is armed with a computer and a portable printer so that they can provide you with all the quote information you’ll need—just as soon as the sales representative has had a chance to consider the requirements of the project and brings them to life with your vision.

In addition to offering a broad range of first-rate products to select from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you excellent window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the home improvements you want to while building great value into your Grand Rapids area home while you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We suggest that you use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning mixture or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also make your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they could leave streaks or create a film that magnetizes moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella doors and windows. They are required to complete a rigid set of training courses so that your windows and doors are properly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty criteria. We find the best Grand Rapids-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Before we hire anyone, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. Beyond Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Grand Rapids Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t perform. Our specialty is selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your renovation will have the expertise of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. Simply contact our office, your sales representative, or our project manager with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why Grand Rapids homeowners choose Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella was founded in 1925 and has remained privately-held the entire time. Every one of our high quality windows and doors are manufactured with care and serviced by Pella’s professional Direct Sales Network. Unlike most other window and door companies who sell exclusively through third-party channels, Pella has dedicated windows & door design centers the U.S. and Canada. This unique way of conducting business gives the homeowners in Grand Rapids a warm, personal experience with the help of a local to Grand Rapids, Pella-certified team. Whether you are looking for the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a top quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
